Professional Learning and Ethical Practice
2. Engages in PD aligned with the needs of teacher, learners, school, and system.
This semester I went to PD every Wednesday. We learned a lot about what was going on in the district at the time. We graded writing benchmarks and learned how to distribute district wide assessments. We also talked about the Robins K-8 Mission and made it together as a faculty. Now the poster is handing in every classroom in the entire school. Also we talked about different strategies to make instructional objectives. Below is a worksheet all of the teachers were given in order to help make IOs in every day lessons. This is a good guide to help us work on making IOs and actually implementing them into our classrooms.
Leadership and Collaboration
1. Collaborates with colleagues to share responsibility for decision making and accountability for student learning.
6. Uses technological tools and a variety of communication strategies to build local and global learning communities that engage learners, families, and colleagues.

During the whole year my mentor and I worked with the other two 4th grade teachers. One example of this was that I decided to start reading Hatchet with my students. The team leader gave us a letter for my students to fill out about our kid's own personal plane crash in their lives. This was something we used within the classroom. Also, I gave them the idea of doing a project based on Greek gods and goddesses. Each one of the fourth grade teachers decided to do with this their students at the end of the semester. This was their 4th quarter project.
Additionally in the beginning of the year I wrote a letter to the parents introducing myself to them. I wanted the parents to get an idea of who I was and why I was going to be in the classroom. Below is what I sent home to the parents. Also, I helped Mrs. Harper write multiple newletters that went out the the student's parents about once a month. I wrote about what was going on in the classroom and where I currently fit into the classroom (phasing in or out or full takeover).
