As A Teacher |
I will be teaching 3rd grade in Fall of 2016 and I student taught in 4th grade. I have taught almost all grades 1st-6th, so I do have a great idea of what each type of classroom should look like. I would consider myself a role model for my students at all times. I have a vested interested in History and Science. These subjects are often taken out of the classroom and it is my personal goal to put them back in. I especially love the Greek and Roman Empires and took Latin as my foreign language. I also see a large value in technology in the classroom and believe we should try and incorporate more because our students are going to be surrounded by it for the rest of their lives. If we can give them the tools to succeed while using it, they will be much more successful with future endeavors.

Philosophy of Education |
I believe that a classroom is a safe place where a child can grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually. All students have the right to learn and be given the best education. I want my students to always understand that their education and well-being is extremely important to me and when they succeed, I succeed as well. I want my students to know that school is much more than just a place to learn academics; it is a place they learn about friends and themselves.
It is important to me that my students are engaged as much as possible. I know that all of my students learn differently, so I strive to use as many different teaching methods as possible in order to stimulate all of my students. I want to connect with each different type of learner and make it meaningful for them. If a student needs to be accommodated, I want to get to know that student and know what will help them succeed while also pushing them. Activities that have them learning the information through motion is also a great way to engage all learners and make a memorable experience for themselves. I also strive to have my students out of their seats and being active participants in their learning. I do not want them to be sitting writing notes, I want them to be exploring the world around them as they work. I want my students to be asking the questions that are important to them. I want them to have opportunities to discuss with peers about how they believe the world works or to just bounce ideas off of each other. I want them to incorporate real life into their learning. I don’t want them to believe they are learning this information “because they have to” or “because it will be on the test.” I want my students to know that the information they are learning is meaningful to them and that they are going to use it again one day. Keeping my students really invested in their own learning allows me to know that they value their education as much as I do. Overall I want to be a role model for these children. I want to be someone they can look up to and feel safe to come to in any situation. For some students, school is the only consistency they have, and I want them to know I will always be there for them. I want my students to know that we all struggle and have things we are bad at, but we can do whatever we want. I struggle and am still striving to become an amazing teacher for them. Being a good role model for my students will ensure me that I am completing my job as their teacher in every way possible. |
